Kerry Reynolds is on the run from a fiancé-gone-bad when she finds herself homeless and car-less in Richmond, VA. Kerry faces a night on the street unless she can meet a man at a bar, any man, and convince him to take her home with him.
Rick, an ex-Buddhist monk, is on a quest to lose his virginity, so he's hoping to meet the perfect woman for a one-night-stand. When he sees Kerry at a bar, he knows she is far from that perfect woman. His near-bankrupt cousin towed her car earlier that day and the clothes on her back are definitely the worse for wear, but there's something about her that speaks to him. There’s also something about her that turns him on every time she draws near.
Kerry offers him free no-strings sex in exchange for a place to stay, but Rick fights ethics burned into him from years at the monastery. To complicate matters, he learns why she is homeless in the first place—Kerry witnessed her fiancé killing a prostitute—and now that fiancé has been led to town by a tip from Rick’s own cousin. Rick vows he will not fail to protect Kerry, as he failed to protect a woman in his past.
Kerry knows her fiancé plans to kill her, but will he also kill anyone who gets in his way? She should leave town fast, alone, to keep Rick out of the line of fire, but then she risks losing the one thing that really matters to her, Rick's enlightened love.
